Natural Gas Division Welder/Serviceperson I/II
Hutchinson Utilities Commission seeks qualified applicants for the position of Welder/ Serviceperson I/II. Duties include installing and replacing distribution mains, service lines, and metering and regulating facilities, records creation and maintenance, assisting with outages and other emergencies, responding to service calls, following safety rules and regulations, equipment and vehicle operation, and attending safety trainings. Requires H.S. diploma/ GED with five years experience in the natural gas industry desired. Knowledge of DOT pipeline and industry standards. DOT Part 192, Appendix C or API 1104 welding certification. Must maintain all necessary Operator Qualifications. Valid Minnesota Class A commercial drivers license required. Desirable qualifications include welding and polyethylene fusion certification, pipeline locating, and natural gas transmission and distribution systems installation and maintenance experience. Starting pay range: $25.43 -$35.33/hr per the union contract and dependent upon experience and qualifications. Competitive benefit package. System Controller I/II
Hutchinson Utilities Commission (HUC) seeks qualified applicants for a System Controller (union position) for our municipally owned utility. Position monitors electric and natural gas transmission/distribution systems, HUC communication systems (radios and telephones), SCADA systems for alarm conditions and contingencies, and takes proper action to maintain the system and operations in a safe and reliable state. Position monitors electrical generation, orders start up and shut down of electrical generation facilities to maintain schedules for reliability, predicts the amount of generation and natural gas needed to satisfy system load, keeps necessary records on power transactions, electric and natural gas needs, system logs and other reports, and maintains the general cleanliness of the control room. Demonstrates safe work practices, receives service calls and dispatches staff to outages or other service issues. Rotating 24/7 shift work schedule. Preferred applicants have at least four years experience as an apprentice System Controller or equivalent work experience, knowledge of MS Windows and Office, good communication skills, and previous control room or electrical experience. Pay range is $32.67 – 37.91/hour.
